Australia· Consulting· Full-time

Join our Consulting team as an experienced event-driven microservices specialist on Confluent Kafka for our Enterprise clients.

About the role

We're looking for a senior engineer to design and build event-driven, microservices-based platforms for our enterprise clients. You'll work across the full delivery lifecycle — from architecture and design through to build, test, and production support — helping organisations modernise how their systems communicate and scale.

What you'll do

  • Design and build microservices and streaming pipelines on Confluent Kafka
  • Model event-driven architectures and define topic, schema, and contract standards
  • Integrate Kafka with enterprise systems, APIs, and downstream consumers
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production readiness
  • Mentor other engineers and help shape delivery practices on client engagements

What we're looking for

  • Strong experience building microservices in a JVM or comparable ecosystem
  • Hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka (Connect, Schema Registry, ksqlDB)
  • Solid understanding of event-driven and distributed system design patterns
  • Experience with containerisation, CI/CD, and cloud platforms
  • Consulting or client-facing experience and excellent communication skills

Nice to have

  • Confluent certification
  • Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code
  • Exposure to regulated enterprise environments (finance, utilities, government)

Your previous experience will demonstrate your ability to work independently, creatively and analytically as well as showcase your excellent presentation, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal abilities as a Senior Consultant.
